Adoption timeline

Our adoption journey:

  • Dec 2011 – contacted adoption agency 
  • Jan – March 2012– submitted application and all supporting documents
  • April 2012 – joined the India program
  • August 2012 – attended adoption classes
  • September 2012 – our home study process begins
  • December 2013 – prepared our dossier documents
  • Jan 2013 – received our home study and I-800A approval
  • March 6th, 2013 – our little Angel is born in Bangalore, India
  • May 2013 – moved to new adoption agency as the India program at the old agency was closed
  • July 2013 – Transferred to new adoption agency
  • July 2013 – updated our dossier and submitted it to agency
  • October 2013 – Got registered in CARA database
  • March 22nd 2014 – news of a possible referral
  • March 31st 2014 – received referral for baby Anjali
  • April 2nd 2014 – Accepted referral
  • June 13th 2014 – SARA committee approval
  • June 2014 – met with social worker for home study update
  • July 2014 – submitted I-800 and I-800A renewal paperwork
  • July 24th, 2014 – I-800A extension and I-800 provisional approval 
  • July 30th, 2014 – submitted DS-260 to USCIC
  • August 1st, 2014 – Article 5 letter sent to CARA
  • August 7th, 2014 – NOC from CARA
  • Sept 11th, 2014 – 1st court hearing
  • October 6th, 2014 – 2nd court hearing
  • October 7th, 2014 – 3rd court hearing                                         
  • October 13th, 2014 – 4th court hearing
  • October 18th, 2014 – Verbal approvals. Anjali is ours!!! J
  • November 6th 2014 – Official court order is received by our caseworker!
  • December 22nd 2014 – Got our travel dates
  • Jan 5th, 2015 – Super happy Janardhan family boarded plane to India
  • Jan 16th 2015 – Met our sweet Anjali and became a family of four!
